Chelakkara Election Result 2024: LDF candidate UR Pradeep retains seat with 12,201 vote margin

U R Pradeep, the candidate from the ruling LDF, secured victory in the Chelakkara Assembly bypoll on Saturday. Pradeep defeated Congress-UDF candidate Ramya Haridas by a margin of 12,201 votes.

According to Election Commission figures, Pradeep received 64,827 votes while Haridas received 52,626 votes. BJP-NDA candidate K Balakrishnan came in third place with 33,609 votes.

The Chelakkara constituency saw a total of six candidates contesting in the bypoll. However, the main competition was between Pradeep and Haridas.


The bypoll became necessary following the election of former MLA and Devaswom Minister K Radhakrishnan to the Lok Sabha earlier this year. The Chelakkara constituency has historically been considered a Left stronghold.

The bypoll took place on November 13, with the results being announced on Saturday.
