The INDIA bloc gained 8 seats and increased its vote share by almost 7 percentage points; Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren-led coalition won the tribal belt comfortably. It is the first time since the state’s inception that a party or alliance has won elections after five years in power. Jharkhand was created on November 15, 2000. BJP’s vote share remained unchanged, but it lost a few seats, and got no help from its partners.
