The BJP has told its allies that seat distribution in Jharkhand will be finalised within a week, despite ongoing deliberations among the NDA partners for the state's assembly elections.

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent rally, the BJP moved its focus to the seat deal. The BJP has held alliance talks with the Janata Dal (U) and the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU). Sudesh Mahto, AJSU chief, visited Delhi twice last month and met with key BJP leaders

Mahto is demanding 13 seats while the BJP is still negotiating to bring the number down to eight or nine, sources said.

Apart from the AJSU, the BJP is willing to give seats to the JDU. Sources said the BJP is considering giving the Jamshedpur East and Tamar assembly seats to the JDU.

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan is also eyeing a seat.
