The two parties have been engaged in a sea-saw battle in the state after the counting of votes began at 8 am. The early trends available on TV channels showed the Congress ahead of the BJP, but the ruling made rapid strides later.

Early trends indicated that Congress was on track for a big win in the Haryana polls, as predicted by exit polls. However, by noon, the tables turned, with the BJP taking a significant lead.At 4 pm, BJP is won 17 seats and is leading in 33. Congress is leading in 20 seats and has won 15. Independents have won two seats and another is leading in one. The Aam Aadmi Party is yet to get off the mark. INLD is leading in two seats
Jairam Ramesh accused ECI of delays and filed a complaint over incomplete results. Congress claimed that between 9 and 11 am there has been 'unexplained slowdown' in updating of Haryana results on poll body's website.
BJP has slammed the Congress for attacking EC. The saffron party says the opposition party's attempt to build excuses for its impending defeat in the state elections.
In an apparent dig at Congress, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said the "biggest lesson" of the poll results is that one should never be "overconfident" in the elections.
As per EC data till 3 PM, Congress has a vote share of 39.13 per cent compared to BJP's 39.98 per cent.
