Kashmir's integration was delayed due to Jawaharlal Nehru: Amit Shah

Home minister Amit Shah said on Thursday that Kashmir's integration with India was delayed for years "because of the mistake of Jawaharlal Nehru and Article 370".

Addressing people at Jhanjharka in Ahmedabad district, Shah said everyone desired the repeal of Article 370 and it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who finally did that. "Narendrabhai on August 5, 2019, in one strike, removed Article 370 from Kashmir and integrated Kashmir with India for ever," he said.

Shah was speaking while flagging off one of the five yatras that the BJP is taking out across Gujarat ahead of assembly elections later this year.


On Monday, in a veiled allusion to Nehru during a public meeting at Anand in Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi had said that he had been able to solve the Kashmir issue walking in the footsteps of Sardar Patel.

Taking his attack on the Congress a notch higher, Shah also alleged that the Congress forever kept on saying that they would build the temple there (in Ayodhya) but would not spell out the dates. "Tell the Congress folks that the date has come, Bhumipujan has happened and under the leadership of Narendrabhai, construction of a sky-scraping temple has begun," Shah said.
