Gujarat elections: Exit polls predict big win for BJP

The predictions reveal a massive victory for BJP in the 182-seat Gujarat Assembly. Jan ki Baat exit poll predicted 129 seats out of 182 for BJP, 43 for Congress and 10 for Aam aadmi party. BJP won 99 in 2017.

On the other hand, P-MARQ exit polls for Gujarat predicted that BJP will win between 128-148 seats, while Congress would stay between 30-42 and new entrantAam aadmi party may end up with 2-10 seats.

According to the exit polls conducted by TV9, the BJP is expected to win 125 to 130 seats. The Congress is expected to secure around 40 to 50 seats; Aam aadmi party is likely to win 3 to 5 seats.


The BJP will retain the government for the seventh consecutive time. However, Congress is expected to have a considerable voter share compared to previous elections.

The election witnessed a high-octane campaign by both the BJP and Congress.

In Gujarat, the 93 poll-bound seats in the second phase were spread across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravali, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara, Anand, Kheda and Chhota Udaipur districts.

During the first phase of polling on December 1, Gujarat saw an overall turnout of 63.14 per cent. The voting began at 8 am in 89 constituencies spread across 19 districts of Kutch, Saurashtra and South Gujarat regions.
