Union home minister Amit Shah visited the state and had personally monitored the nominations which had witnessed intense negotiations, sourcessaid. BJP fielded Sardarsinh Chaudhary from Kheralu constituency and Mahendra Bhabhor from Garbada seat. In Mansa, the party fielded Jayanti Patel.
However, BJP is yet to declare its candidate for Manjalpur seat in Vadodara where it is learnt that the party is yet to come to a consensus over the candidate. Meanwhile, Congress issued its list of 37 candidates completing the process for all the assembly constituencies of the state.
In a strong move, the party dropped the sitting MLAs in five constituencies across Bayad, Bahucharaji, Petlad, Dhanduka and Dahod (ST).
The party fielded its sitting MLA Lakha Bharwad from Viramgam against turncoat Hardik Patel who had joined BJP early this year resigning from his position of state working president. In Bayad, despite opposition, the party fielded Mahendrasinh Vaghela, the son of former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela.
