Gujarat Assembly Elections: Isudan Gadhvi becomes AAP's CM face

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday announced that the national general secretary Isudan Gadhvi is the party's chief ministerial candidate for the next month's Gujarat Assembly elections.

Gadhvi, the National Joint General Secretary of the Aam Aadmi Party and a member of the National Executive, previously held a position in the media. He was well-known as a TV journalist, editor of VTV News, and host of the station's well-liked news programme Mahamanthan.

Forty year old Ishudan hails from a poor farmer family in Pipaliya village in Devbhumi Dwarka district. He did his basic education from Jamnagar and later moved to Ahmedabad where he did his masters in Journalism from Gujarat Vidyapith.


The candidate is named on the basis of opinion submitted to the party by the people of the state, office-bearers revealed.

As per party sources, those in the race for the top post from the AAP included its state unit president Gopal Italia, national general secretary Isudan Gadhvi and general secretary Manoj Soratihya.

Earlier, Kejriwal had invited people to get in touch with the party by SMS, WhatsApp, voice mail, and email last week to share their opinions about who should represent the party as the state's chief minister in the state, which is currently governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He had stated that until November 3rd, people could submit their thoughts, and on the basis of those opinions, the name of the party's chief ministerial face would be revealed the following day.
