Congress plans five rallies across Gujarat

After BJP's mega outreach of five rallies across 182 assembly seats in Gujarat, the Congress is now gearing up to finally press on the campaign accelerator.

The party is scheduled to kick off five yatras simultaneously which will be flagged off by the heavyweights such as Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot, Chhattishgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, former chief ministers of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh and Kamal Nath and Mukul Wasnik. The party has named these rallies Parivartan Sankalp Yatra.

Gujarat Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi told ET that the Yatras are aimed at fomenting the sentiment for political change in the state and will continue for about a week covering 175 assembly seats out of 182.


Doshi further said that while Ashok Gehlot will launch the yatra from Palanpur in Banaskantha district of north Gujarat, Bhupesh Baghel will participate in Fagvel in Kheda district of central Gujarat, Digvijaya Singh in Nakhatrana in Kutch, Kamal Nath in Somnath and senior leader Mukul Wasnik will initiate the yatra from Jambusar in south Gujarat.

It may be mentioned here that Gehlot has reached Gujarat for a six-day tour and the party, according to sources, is also gearing up to release its first list of about 50 candidates shortly.
