Gandhinagar: Implementation of the Gujarat Uniform Civil Code Committee's recommendations, "invigorating" spirituality in the state, establishment of an anti-radicalisation cell, and making Gujarat a $1-trillion economy are among the promises ruling BJP has made in its manifesto for the assembly elections.

The anti-radicalisation cell will "identify and eliminate potential threats, and sleeper cells of the terrorist organisations and anti-India forces", according to the manifesto released on Saturday.

"We will set up a task force that will scrutinise the assets and finances of the Waqf Board and conduct surveys of madrassas regarding their curriculum," it said. "We will ensure that there is rigorous imprisonment along with a financial penalty for forced conversions under the Gujarat Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, 2021," it added.

The outgoing government had announced its decision to set up a committee to study various aspects of uniform civil code for the state just days ahead of the declaration of election in the state.

"We will ensure the complete implementation of the Gujarat Uniform Civil Code Committee's recommendation," the BJP manifesto said.

It also promises to invigorate spirituality in Gujarat and build Devbhumi Dwarka Corridor to establish it as western India's biggest spiritual centre, comprising of the world's tallest Shree Krishna statue, 3D immersive Bhagwat Gita experience zone, and a viewing gallery for the lost city of Dwarka.

BJP promised an investment of Rs 1,000 crore to renovate, expand and promote temples, following the successful transformation model of Somnath, Ambaji and Pavagadh, where 16 specific temples across the state will be included. "We will promote Sihor (Bhavnagar) as 'Chhota Kashi', with its nine Nath and Swayambhu Gautameshwar temples," it promised.

The manifesto also promised to make Gujarat a $1-trillion economy by maintaining its position as "India's manufacturing powerhouse", focusing on services such as IT/ITeS, fintech and tourism, investing in building human and institutional capacity for new-age industries such as semiconductor and green energy.
