In a press conference on Monday, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi raised concerns over a potential "voter scam" in the New Delhi constituency, from where AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal is contesting the upcoming assembly elections.

Atishi claimed that the electoral roll for the constituency has seen a significant increase, with 10 percent new voters added recently, while 5.5 percent of voters have been removed.

Atishi criticised the Election Commission for its "suspicious" role in the matter, noting that the commission had yet to investigate these discrepancies.

"I have written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner regarding this scam in the New Delhi assembly and have asked for time to address our concerns," Atishi stated during the press conference.

The allegations of voter list irregularities were further supported by senior AAP leaders, including Rajya Sabha MPs Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh, who also raised concerns over the changes to the electoral roll. Singh shared his personal experience, claiming that an application had been filed to remove his wife, Anita Singh, from the list.

The issue of mass voter deletions has become a focal point as the Delhi Assembly elections approach in February.

The Aam Aadmi Party, which secured a dominant 62 out of 70 seats in the last election, is aiming for a third consecutive term in power.

To address the allegations, a delegation led by AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal met with the Election Commission on December 11.
