The oath ceremony of the new Delhi Chief Minister is expected to take place on February 20 at 4:30 pm, according to TimesNow.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Legislative Party meeting in Delhi has been scheduled for February 19, as confirmed by party sources. The new Chief Minister is slated to take the oath of office on February 20 at the city's famous Ramlila Maidan.

Voting for the Delhi Assembly elections was held on February 5, with results declared on February 8. The BJP had stuck to its frequently followed game plan of not naming a chief minister before the polls. The BJP secured a thumping victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, securing 48 out of 70 seats.

This election primarily was a direct contest between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which managed to win only 22 seats this time around. Key figures from AAP, such as Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Satyendra Jain, faced defeat in their respective constituencies.

"The BJP Legislature Party meeting that was due to occur tomorrow has been moved. The new date for this meeting is now February 19. Consequently, the swearing-in ceremony for the Chief Minister will take place on February 20 instead of the previously planned February 18," news agencies reported citing statements by a party insider.

To manage the preparations for the ceremony, BJP General Secretaries Vinod Tawde and Tarun Chugh have been designated as the in-charge officials.

The swearing-in event is expected to draw significant attendance, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, various Chief Ministers, leaders from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Union Ministers, corporate industrialists, and personalities from the film and sports sectors, as well as saints and sages.

The ceremony is anticipated to be a grand occasion, with an expected audience of between 12,000 and 16,000 residents from Delhi, alongside diplomats from multiple nations and various religious figures.

Who can be BJP's CM pick?
Several candidates are being considered for the Chief Minister role, with Parvesh Verma emerging as a leading contender. Verma gained prominence after defeating AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency.

Another strong candidate is Satish Upadhyay, who has previously served as the Delhi BJP president and led the Delhi Youth Wing.

Additionally, Ashish Sood, representing the Punjabi community within the BJP in Delhi, is also in the running.

Other potential candidates include Jitendra Mahajan and Vijender Gupta. If the party decides to nominate a female leader, former Delhi Mayor and first-time MLA Rekha Gupta could be a viable option, ANI reported.
