Union Home Minister Amit Shah while addressing a public gathering in Delhi's Narela on Sunday said, Delhi's former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal insulted Puravanchalis and called them fake voters. Calling AAP, 'Awaidh Aamdaniwali Party', he said, Kejriwal only told lies to get votes.

"They (AAP) have not only created chaos but have also insulted our Purvanchalis. They say that Purvanchalis are fake voters. Kejriwal ji, do my brothers and sisters from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand not have the right to vote in Delhi?" Shah inquired.

"Under Kejriwal ji's rule, Delhi's condition has deteriorated in just 10 years-facing dirty water, flooding, stagnant wells, and neglected gardens. Schools are falling apart, hospitals lack basic facilities. Does Kejriwal really care about you? Does he ensure clean water and dependable services?"

Shah claimed that AAP's misgovernance in Delhi will end on February 8 and BJP will come to power.

He also hailed the countrymen for their role in strengthening democracy across the nation."...In these 75 years after our constitution was implemented, our countrymen have helped the democracy to be deeply rooted. It's democracy because of which ' ek gareeb chaiwaale ka beta naam Narendra Modi, teesri baar desh ka pradhan mantri chunkar aaya hai'. It is the constitution because of which a daughter of poor tribal, Draupadi Murmu has become 'Mahamahim' and sits in the Rashtrapati Bhavan...," he said.

Shah was campaigning for BJP candidate from Narela, Raj Karan Khatri.

In a rally on Saturday, the home minister slammed the AAP for allegedly misleading people by claiming that the BJP will discontinue all existing welfare schemes in Delhi if it comes to power in the city.

"PM Modi has assured that no existing welfare scheme for the poor in Delhi will be discontinued and Arvind Kejriwal is spreading lies... They are misleading people. I am saying it again that the BJP will not discontinue any scheme meant for the welfare of the poor," the minister said at a public meeting in Rajouri Garden.

Accusing the AAP government of corruption, he said its tenure saw several scams like DTC bus scam, smart classroom scam and CCTV scam.

Public money meant for opening new hospitals and schools, and cleaning the Yamuna river was wasted in "scams", he charged.

Kejriwal, who came into politics saying that he would not accept any government bungalow, built a 'sheesh mahal' worth Rs 52 crore for himself, the BJP leader said.

The AAP is eyeing a third term, while the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to wrest back power from the ruling party. The counting of votes is set for February 8. A total of 699 candidates are competing for the 70 Assembly seats in the National Capital.

The Congress, which was in power for 15 consecutive years in Delhi, has suffered setbacks in the last two assembly elections, failing to win any seats. In contrast, AAP dominated the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections, winning 67 and 62 seats, respectively, out of a total of 70 seats, while the BJP secured only three and eight seats in these elections.
