In a huge setback for Aam Aadmi Party, Manish Sisodia has lost from Jangpura. Sisodia, who is considered as the No 2 in the party, lost to BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah.

Jangpura, a prominent assembly constituency amongst Delhi's 70 legislative seats in South Delhi's affluent area, saw a triangular among AAP's Manish Sisodia, BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah, and Congress's Farhad Suri.

Sisodia was the deputy chief minister in the AAP government.


Manish Sisodia concedes defeat


Talking to reporters, Sisodia said, "All of us party workers contested the Jangpura seat dedicatedly and the people here also gave us a lot of support but we fell short by just 600 votes. I congratulate the candidate (BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah) who won."

All About Jangpura Constituency


In Jangpura, there are several other candidates including Rakesh Sagar (Blue India Party), Ravindra Singh Raviyodaya (BSP), Bijender (Haryana Jansena Party), independent candidates Ashok Bambani and Sunil Kumar Kukreja, and Anil Kumar representing Bhartiya Rashtrawadi Party.

The constituency's boundaries extend to include Jangpura and its extended regions, with Mathura Road, Ring Railway Line, Defence Colony Flyover area, Silver Oak Park, and Barapulla drain marking its periphery.

The 2020 election results showed AAP candidate Praveen Kumar emerging victorious with 45,133 votes, surpassing BJP's Impreet Singh Bakshi who secured 29,070 votes, whilst Congress candidate Tarvinder Singh Marwah obtained 13,565 votes.

The 2015 assembly elections witnessed AAP's dominance, with Praveen Kumar securing 43,927 votes. BJP's Maninder Singh Dhir received 23,477 votes, and Congress's Tarvinder Singh Marwah garnered 22,662 votes.
