Congress leader Ajay Maken on Wednesday alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi was involved in a massive corruption scandal worth Rs 382 crore in the healthcare sector.

Speaking at a press conference, Maken claimed that the AAP government, which has frequently criticized the Congress government based on CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) reports, was now facing serious corruption charges in 14 CAG reports under its tenure.

Maken referred to one specific CAG report, which he said revealed a scam involving former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

According to Maken, the report pointed to irregularities in the construction of hospitals, noting that despite AAP's promise to complete projects ahead of schedule and save money, only three new hospitals were built in the last decade.

He clarified that all three hospitals—Indira Gandhi Hospital, Burari Hospital, and Maulana Azad Dental Hospital—were initiated under the Congress government, with significant delays.

"The delay of Indira Gandhi Hospital was five years, Burari Hospital was delayed by six years, and Maulana Azad Dental Hospital was delayed by three years," Maken said.

He further accused the AAP government of spending significantly more than the approved tender amounts: Rs 314 crore was spent beyond the budget for Indira Gandhi Hospital, Rs 41 crore for Burari Hospital, and Rs 26 crore for Maulana Azad Dental Hospital, totaling an excess of Rs 382.52 crore. "I am not saying this, the CAG report is saying this," Maken emphasized.

Maken also criticized the AAP government's failure to complete several infrastructure projects, referencing a CAG report that showed the Delhi government had acquired 15 plots between 2007 and 2015, but no work had begun on any of them.

He added that from 2016-17 to 2021-22, Rs 2,623 crore allocated for infrastructure projects had lapsed without being utilized. Maken directly accused Kejriwal and his government of obstructing the CAG report, calling it the "biggest reason" for the delay in its release.

These allegations come as the Delhi Assembly elections approach, with voting scheduled for February 5. The results will be declared on February 8.
