The Delhi BJP on Tuesday expressed confidence that the national capital will get a "double-engine" government on February 8, when the results of the Assembly elections will be announced. Assembly polls in Delhi will be held on February 5. The last date to file nominations is January 17 and the scrutiny of nominations will be done by January 18.

Addressing a press conference, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said February 5 will be an important day as more than 1.55 crore voters will decide the future of Delhi.

"On February 5, 1 crore 55 lakh 24 thousand 858 voters will cast their votes to build a new Delhi, a better Delhi, and a beautiful Delhi," he said.

Sachdeva exuded confidence that the result on February 8 would pave the way for a "double-engine government" of the BJP in Delhi under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"The lotus (BJP's election symbol) will bloom here," he added.

The term "double engine" is used by BJP leaders to refer to the party being in power at the Centre as well as in a state.
