Delhi Elections 2025: BJP releases first list of candidates; pits Parvesh Verma against Arvind Kejriwal
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday announced its first list of 29 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Elections. Former MP Parvesh Verma will contest from the New Delhi assembly seat against former Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal.

The saffron party has named another former MP Ramesh Bidhuri from Kalkaji, where Chief Minister and AAP candidate Atishi is in the fray.

The party has fielded its national office-bearers Dushyant Kumar Gautam and Ashish Sood from Karol Bagh and Janakpuri, respectively, Arvinder Singh Lovely from Gandhi Nagar and former AAP leader Kailash Gahlot from Bijwasan.


Former Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay will contest from Malviya Nagar.

Sitting BJP MLAs, including the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi assembly Vijender Gupta, veteran Om Prakash Sharma, Ajay Mahawar, and Jitender Mahajan, will re-contest from Rohini, Vishwas Nagar, Ghonda, and Rohtas Nagar, respectively.

Former BJP MLAs Kulwant Rana, Manoj Shokeen, Anil Sharma, and Manjinder Singh Sirsa will contest from Rithala, Nangloi Jat, RK Puram, and Rajouri Garden, respectively.

Narayan Dutt Sharma, a former AAP MLA from Badarpur who joined BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, has been fielded from Badarpur.

Several candidates, such as Ashok Goel (Model Town), Raj Kumar Bhatia (Adarsh Nagar), and Rekha Gupta (Shalimar Bagh), have previously contested assembly polls but were unsuccessful.

The elections are scheduled for February this year. AAP has already announced candidates for all 70 seats, while Congress has named 48 candidates so far.
