Besides PM Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah and BJP president J P Nadda joined the other members of the CEC in finalising the names of candidates.
The BJP released its first list of candidates for 29 assembly seats on January 4. The first list of candidates was released without any physical meeting of the BJP's Central Election Committee.
Among the names under consideration for the second list is Meenakshi Lekhi, a former MP. Lekhi didn't contest the Lok Sabha elections held early this year like Parvesh Verma and Ramesh Bidhuri. Both Verma and Bidhuri have been given assembly tickets this time and therefore Lekhi is also considered as a strong contender in Delhi.
Ex-AAP leader Kapil Mishra's name is also under consideration from one of the Delhi assembly seats.
The names of several former Congress and AAP leaders are also under consideration, on several assembly seats. The BJP is expected to announce candidates on the remaining assembly seats soon. Elections in Delhi is scheduled for February 5 and votes would be counted on February 8.
