Congress revealed the first 21 of 70 candidate names last week and anticipates releasing 15-20 more names soon, pending approval.
Included in the first list are Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav, former minister Haroon Yusuf, ex-MP Sandeep Dikshit, and several former legislators and council members. Congress aims to rebound after failing to secure any seats in the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections.
The party established a "war room" at its headquarters to assist candidates. “The war room will provide all the relevant information to the candidates about their constituency and its profile, the electorate, and the issues plaguing the area. The candidates were also encouraged to outline any specific requirements they had, and the war room would address those needs promptly,” Yadav explained.
The war room will offer information about constituencies, voters, and local issues, and address candidate needs. Candidates also received documents detailing their constituencies.
Yadav, running in the Badli seat, advised candidates to discuss the previous Congress government’s work with voters. AICC in-charge Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin stated, “Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge have given competent, experienced candidates in the first list, and they should use this opportunity to win the election.” Nizamuddin pledged ongoing support to the candidates.
