Chhattisgarh elections: Priyanka Gandhi promises Rs 500 subsidy per gas cylinder, loan waiver for SHGs and more

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday made several promises during a rally in Jalbandha, Khairagarh assembly segment, for the upcoming assembly polls. If her party retains power, these measures will include waiving loans of Self-Help Groups, subsidising cooking gas cylinders through a new scheme, offering free treatment to victims of road accidents, upgrading around 6,000 government higher secondary and high schools into Swami Atmanand English and Hindi medium schools, and providing free electricity up to 200 units.

"If re-elected in Chhattisgarh, Congress will launch Mahtari Nyay Yojana for women to provide Rs 500 subsidy per gas cylinder," Gandhi Vadra said.

"Loans of Self Help Groups and the loans availed by women under the Saksham Yojna will be waived," she added.


Furthermore, the Chief Minister's Special Health Assistance Scheme will offer free treatment to victims of road accidents and other sudden accidents.

Additionally, the government will purchase Tivara (a type of lentil) from farmers at the support price.

"Tivara (a type of lentil) will be purchased from the farmers at the support price," she added.

In her address, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticised the BJP and urged the audience to vote for the party that focuses on development and welfare rather than misleading people in the name of religion.

"Will you vote for those who mislead you in the name of religion and only bring problems in your lives, or vote for the party that works to ensure your development and welfare?" she asked.
