PM Modi targets Congress over betting app row: 'Didn't even spare name of 'Mahadev'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday slammed the Congress in his election speeches, alleging that the party's priority is always to make money through corrupt means when it attains power. In Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh, he alleged that those in power have indulged in filling their own coffers, giving government jobs to the children of their own supporters.

"In the (State) Public Service Commission examinations, they have kept your children out and filled these seats with their own people. In Chhattisgarh, it is said '30 takka kakka, aapka kaam pucca (pay 30% to Baghel and your job is done'. The state is now saying it will not bear this anymore and vote for change. Those in power are not sparing any opportunity to loot you. They have not even spared Mahadev. In Raipur, a big haul of cash has been seized in an important operation," Modi said, referring to the Mahadev betting App scandal.

The prime minister said those in power are big punters who have put at stake money looted from people. "The CM should tell us what is his association with the people in based in Dubai. After all, he is worked up due to these raids," he said.

Raking up the issue of financial irregularities in Chhattisgarh, Modi said there have been several scams - the PSC recruitment scam, Mahadev betting scam, embezzlement of ₹2000 Cr in liquor contracts, ₹500 Cr in the cement scam, ₹5000 Crore in paddy procurement scam and so on.

He also underscored the various benefits promised in the BJP manifesto for the state.

With the Opposition promising the caste census, Modi played up his OBC credentials and alleged that Congress cannot accept that a backward caste leader is the prime minister.
