PM Modi must take up issue of deportation and sealing of Indo-Bangladesh border with Sheikh Hasina, says Badruddin Ajmal

All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief and Lok Sabha MP, Badruddin Ajmal asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is in Bangladesh to take up the issue of deportation and sealing of Indo-Bangladesh border with his counterpart Sheikh Hasina.

Ajmal tweeted, “I wish a pleasant stay to PM Modi ji in Bangladesh.I would like to request him to discuss with Sheikh Hasina on the issues of deportation of illegal immigrants and the Indo-Bangla border sealing to stop further infiltration”.

PM Modi on March 24 during electioneering took a jibe at Congress party for forming an alliance with Badruddin Ajmal led AIUDF. Modi had said, “Congress has joined hands with people whose aim is to destroy Assam's identity. Do you want Assam's traditions to be ruined? Congress taking help from a group that promotes infiltrators. Today there's development in Assam, it's free from infiltrators.”


All BJP leaders are attacking Ajmal terming him as communal and a threat to Assam’s culture and civilisation. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “Badruddin Ajmal’s encroachers had encroached Batadrava Than and Kaziranga National park, our government has cleared the same from encroachments. Now how will Rahul Gandhi save Assam from infiltration when Ajmal is sitting in his lap.”

Batadrava Than is the birthplace of Srimanta Sankardev (the 15th-century saint-reformer of Assam).

Stating that only BJP can keep Assam free from infiltration, Shah said, “ In 15 years of Congress rule, insurgents killed people and security forces. Congress did nothing to check the same. In the last five years, 2000 militants surrendered and mainstreamed. Bodo accord has brought back peace and confidence.”
