The Cachar district administration has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident of a vehicle carrying EVM overturning on April 1. It is suspected that the vehicle was attacked by miscreants.

A senior official in the district said that an inquiry report will be submitted within three days. “The incident took place near NATRIP office here in Silchar. Goons had attacked the vehicle at around 8 pm on April 1. The vehicle had Ballot unit 19, Control unit 13, VVPAT 18. No damage to these equipment reported. These were reserve equipment.”

He added, “Executive Magistrate Ruthi Aiawzo was returning from Borkhola constituency when the vehicle came under attack.
