Assam polls: BJP fields eight minority Muslim candidates
In the list of 70 candidates, there are three candidates from minority community. From Laharighat Kadiru Jjaman Zinnah, Nazir Hussain from Rupohihat besides Aminul Haque Laskar is seeking re-election from Sonai seat.

In the final list announced on Sunday, BJP has fielded Ashadul Islam from South Salmara, Dr AbuBakkar Siddique from Bilasipara West, Osman Gani from Jaleswar, Shadidul Islam from Jania and Hasinara Khatun from Baghbar.
Ruling BJP in Assam is targeting to win at least seven Muslim minority dominated seats.
Earlier state unit BJP president State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass said, “We have really worked hard and our schemes have benefited each and every community”.
BJP is contesting 92 seats in the assembly polls while its allies Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) will contest 26 seats, United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) will contest eight seats and Rabha Jatiya Aikya Manch one seat.
Ally AGP is contesting in 15 seats which are minority dominated or where minority votes have sizable presence.
