Assam polls: AGP releases 26 candidates; Congress names 22 in third list

While AGP president and minister Atul Bora will contest from Bokakhat seat, minster Keshav Mahanta will contest from Kaliabor. Dipti Mayee Choudhury, wife of MP Phani Bhushan Choudhury is fielded from Bongaigaon.
MLA from Amguri constituency Pradip Hazarika is shifted to Sibsagar seat. Amguri seat ceased to exist post delimitation exercise of 2023. Basanta Das who quitted Congress is fielded by AGP from Naoboicha.

AGP is provided with 26 seats in the NDA alliance. In the 2021 assembly polls the AGP contested 29 seats, 26 alone and three seats saw a friendly fight. It won nine seats. The party has been in alliance with BJP since 2014.
Senior AGP leader Jayanta Khaund, who joined Indian National Congress recently is fielded from Ranganadi seat. Jakir Hussain Sikdar MLA has shifted to Pakabetbari seat as his seat from which he won in 2021 Sarukhetri ceased to exist.

From Dhakuakhana Ananda Narah is fielded. Former MLA from Sarupathar Roselina Tirkey is fielded from Khumtai seat.
With this Congress has declared a list of 102 candidates. Congress has left 15 seats for allies. Assam has 126 assembly seats.
