Guwahati: Around 722 candidates will contest the General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Assam. Around 67 candidates have withdrawn their candidature on Thursday.

According to ECI, 722 candidates will contest the General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Assam, 2026.

A total of 815 candidates had filed 1,389 nomination papers across 126 constituencies. Following scrutiny, 789 candidates were found eligible to contest the General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Assam


Out of 789 validly nominated candidates a total of 67 candidates have withdrawn their candidature today. Consequently, 722 candidates remain in the fray.

Elections will take place across 126 assembly constituencies on April 9.
