Pithapuram Assembly Election Result: Pawan Kalyan likely to cruise to victory with almost 70,000 vote lead

Actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan looks set to win in the Pithapuram Assembly seat, with a 67,843-vote margin, as of 4pm. Up against the YSRCP's Vanga Geetha Viswanath, the 'Gabbar Singh' actor looks set to be part of the new Andhra Pradesh government, with the NDA set to seal a landsline victory in the state.

The Pithapuram constituency went to polling in the fourth phase of the Assembly elections on May 13. Candidates in the fray for the East Godavari subsect include the Congress' Madepalli Satyananda Rao, the Bahujan Samaj Party's Bulli Raju Prattipati.

Held by the YSRCP's Pendem Dorababu, the seat looks to be out of the YS Jagan-led party's grip amid a dismal showing in this year's elections.


This win for Pawan Kalyan is set to be a massive boost for the actor, with his party performing better than expected in the state and registering the actor's first win in the state where his party has existed since 2014.

Kalyan is in the NDA coalition with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Telugu Desam Party, which is on track to form the government, with Chandrababu Naidu likely to take oath as the Chief Minister on June 9.
