Reserve Bank, which is in the process of restructuring some of its departments, today redistributed work among its four Deputy Governors.

MUMBAI: The RBI has redistributed portfolios among its four deputy governors as it accelerates efforts to restructure the institution to improve its analytical skills and better its market intelligence, including activities of firms. Urjit Patel and HR Khan would monitor markets.

R Gandhi and SS Mundra will supervise technology, regulation, risk management and supervision. Each one of them would be in charge of nine to ten departments. Urjit Patel will head the corporate strategy and budget department, department of corporate services including document management system besides the monetary policy department, which will also have a forecasting and a modelling unit.

The other departments are largely the restructured ones from existing departments. “It may be recalled that the RBI is currently restructuring some of its departments as part of its reorganisation exercise.”
