New Delhi, Nov 28 (IANS) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is expected to continue with stricter measures to make a dent in the unsecured consumer credit, analysts said.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced two new surveys, the 'Inflation Expectations Survey of Households' and the 'Consumer Confidence Survey,' aimed at providing crucial insights for the upcoming bi-monthly monetary policy. Scheduled for June 5-7, 2024, the next policy review will benefit from these surveys.

The 'Inflation Expectations Survey of Households' will gather subjective evaluations on price movements and inflation based on individual consumption patterns. This survey spans 19 cities, including Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram, as outlined by the RBI in a recent release.

This survey will gather qualitative responses from households regarding price changes, including general prices and specific product groups, over the next three months and one year. Additionally, it will collect quantitative data on current, three-month ahead, and one-year ahead inflation rates.

On the other hand, the 'Consumer Confidence Survey' aims to gather qualitative responses from households regarding their views on the general economic situation, employment scenario, price levels, household income, and spending. This survey will also be conducted in 19 cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, and Delhi.

The RBI emphasized that the results of these surveys are vital inputs for monetary policy decisions.
