Watch: RBI to issue new chocolate brown-coloured Rs 10 notes
KOLKATA: Get prepared for new Rs 10 bill in chocolate brown colour. That's what Reserve Bank of India announced on Friday.

The new design will bear the motif of Konark's Sun Temple on the reverse, depicting the country's cultural heritage.

"The note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse," RBI said.

The central bank is printing bank notes in new design in line with the government’s move to combat counterfeiting. It has also put lower denomination notes in new design in circulation.

The Rs 50 denomination banknotes in fluorescent blue with a motif of Hampi with Chariot on the reverse and Rs 200 notes in bright yellow with motif of Sanchi Stupa have already hit the market.

RBI said all the existing Rs 10 banknotes will continue to be legal tender.
