Viral Acharya, Deputy Governor
Viral Acharya, a professor at the Stern Business School of the New York University, became the deputy governor of RBI in December 2016. 42-year-old Acharya took over the role when the central bank is facing criticism for repeated changes in the rules related to deposit and withdrawal of money, post-demonetisation.

Ravindra Dholakia, IIM-Ahmedabad
Ravindra Dholakia, a faculty of Economics at IIM-Ahmedabad since 1985, has rich experience in policy making in both state and central governments.
The RBI Chair Professor of IIM-A from 2002 to 2008 has about 38 years of teaching experience to different groups like students, executives, policy makers and senior government officers. He did his Ph.D. in Economics from the M.S. University of Baroda and an MA in distinction, Gold Medalist in Economics and Eco-Metrics from the University of Toronto.
He worked with several private and public sector companies as consultant and has also worked for organizations like WHO, UNICEF, World Bank, and United Nations.

Michael D Patra, Executive Director
Michael Patra, who was earlier the adviser in charge of the monetary policy department, joined RBI in 1985. Patra is a Fellow of Harvard University where he undertook post doctoral research in the area of financial stability. He has a PhD in economics from the Indian Institute of Technology , Mumbai.
He has also received professional training at the IMF Institute on Financial Programming and Policy and at the Centre for Central Banking Studies, Bank of England.
