Government auditor CAG constitutes audit advisory board

Government auditor CAG on Friday constituted a new audit advisory board to advise on matters relating to audit and suggest improvements in its scope.

NEW DELHI: Government auditor CAG on Friday constituted a new audit advisory board to advise on matters relating to audit and suggest improvements in its scope.

The first meeting of the board, chaired by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) Vinod Rai, is scheduled on August 17, an official statement said.

The new board was appointed after the earlier board completed its term. The term of the new board is two years.

The 15-member board includes ICICI Bank Chairman K V Kamath, JP Morgan India CEO Kalpana Morparia and social activists Shabana Azmi and Sunita Narain.

The other members are Centre for Policy Research President Pratap Bhanu Mehta, UNICEF Adviser A K Shiva Kumar and former Chief Secretary of Delhi Sahilaja Chandra. Five deputy CAGs would also be members of the board.

"The main function of the Board will be to advise the CAG in matters relating to audit and suggest improvements in the performance and focus of audit within the framework of the constitution and statutory mandate of the CAG," the statement added.
