At the same time, higher basic customs duty on select imports will push up prices of certain goods, notably low-cost imported umbrellas and ATM and cash dispensing machines. Here is a snapshot of the items that are set to become cheaper — and those that will turn costlier — under the new duty structure.
Here is everything that got cheaper in this year's Budget
The Budget announced a series of duty cuts and tax rationalisations aimed at easing costs for consumers, exporters and strategic sectors.
- Overseas tour packages: TCS cut to 2% from the earlier 5–20%, with no minimum amount
- Foreign remittances for education and medical treatment under LRS: TCS reduced to 2% from 5%
- Microwave ovens: Customs duty exemption on specified manufacturing parts
- Personal-use imports by international travellers: Customs duty cut to 10% from 20%
- Personal-use imports by international travellers: Customs duty cut to 10% from 20%
- Textile and leather exporters: Export realisation period extended to one year, easing working capital stress
- Cancer and critical illness medicines: Basic customs duty fully exempted on 17 drugs
- Drugs, medicines and food for special medical purposes related to seven rare diseases

- Low cost imported umbrellas
- Potassium Hydroxide
- ATM/Cash dispenser machine and its parts and components
- Film & broadcasting equipment for foreign crews
- Imported Zoo animals & birds
- Fertiliser inputs as Ammonium phosphate / nitro-phosphate fertilisers and Naphtha
- Coffee roasting, brewing or vending machines
- Castor oil cake
- Futures trading: Securities Transaction Tax (STT) increased to 0.05% from 0.02%
- Options trading: STT on options premium and exercise raised to 0.15%
- Sale of alcoholic liquor, minerals and scrap: TCS increased to 2% from 1%
- Chewing tobacco, gutkha and similar products: NCCD raised to 60% from 25%
(effective duty incidence to remain at 25% through notification)
