Twelve states raise Rs 10,961 crore from debt market

Maharashtra raised Rs 2,000 crore while Tamil Nadu and West Bengal garnered Rs 1,200 crore and Rs 1,000 crore respectively.

KOLKATA: Twelve state governments including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have raised Rs 10,961 crore by selling State Development Loans on Tuesday using the Reserve Bank of India's auction window.

Maharashtra raised Rs 2,000 crore while Tamil Nadu and West Bengal garnered Rs 1,200 crore and Rs 1,000 crore respectively.

Bihar (Rs 1,281 crore), Karnataka (Rs 1,250 crore), Kerala (Rs 1,380 crore) and Madhya Pradesh (Rs 1,500 crore) too participated in Tuesday's auction. Haryana raised Rs 750 crore while Himachal Pradesh and Punjab mobilised Rs 250 crore each, RBI said in a press statement. Meghalaya and Tripura raised Rs 50 crore each.
