The government has received Rs 3,955 crore as dividend tranches from three state-run firms--NTPC, PowerGrid Corporation of India and Engineers India.

“Government has respectively received about Rs 2,106 crore, Rs 1,791 crore and Rs 58 crore from NTPC, PGCIL, and Engineers India Ltd as dividend tranches,” Tuhin Kanta Pandey, secretary in the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management, said in a tweet.

The Centre has estimated lower dividends and profits of Rs 83,953 crore from various state-run entities and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in FY23, against Rs 1,60,647 crore a year earlier. The fall is mainly driven by a sharp decline in the RBI’s dividend this fiscal, which stood at Rs 30,307 crore (from its FY22 surplus), compared with Rs 99,122 crore a year before.
