SRINAGAR: Two live mortar shells were today found lying in a stream in Budgam district of central Kashmir, police said.

Acting on a tip off, a police party from Khag police station found two live Mortar shells in a stream at Shanglipora this morning, a police spokesman said.

He said the services of 19 Mahar Regiment, which is camping in the village, was sought to defuse the explosives and efforts are on to neutralise the shells.

"The shells are old one and had apparently swept down from nearby Tosamaidan where army was doing practice firing before some period," the spokesman said.
