VMware has announced that it will be enhancing its existing well-being benefits programme to equip employees to live a more healthy and balanced life, said a statement issued today.

Under this programme, all employees across offices in India will be eligible for an additional well-being allowance of Rs. 29,565 as equitable reimbursement. Employees can also choose to apply the amount to help pay to vaccinate themselves and their family members.

This initiative is the latest offering in the firm’s well-being programme portfolio. As the industry moved to a remote work model last year, the technology organisation revisited some of its policies to ensure that teams had help and resources to help cope with the rigours of the new normal.

The Palo Alto, California-headquartered company also initiated a pandemic leave policy for its employees, under which employees are entitled to five days of paid leave, to take some time off during these unusual times.

In addition, it has also introduced a new coaching, therapy, and work life services (ICAS) programme that caters to the mental and emotional well-being of not just employees but also their dependents. Employees and their families have access to a host of online resources – top therapists, coaches, research-backed therapy, and digital tools 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

“Balance is key to employee happiness and enabling our employees to live healthy and balanced lives has always been an integral part of our work culture. Given the disruption of last year, we understand that our employees might need some additional support and we have revamped our well-being benefits programme to do just that. We believe it is our responsibility to establish a work culture that is supportive and prioritises employee health, both physical and mental,” said Ramkumar Narayanan, VP - technology and MD, VMware India.
