Gujarat development model worth replicating: KV Kamath

MUMBAI: Without openly hailing Narendra Modi's anointment as BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate, ICICI Bank chairman KV Kamath said that the development model implemented by the Gujarat Chief Minister was something the whole country could be proud of.

"I don't see why Gujarat's development model cannot be replicated elsewhere in the country," Kamath told reporters on the sidelines of an event organised by the Indian Merchants' Chamber here this evening.

He was responding to a question on BJP's announcement of its prime ministerial candidate.

However, Kamath added that he was talking about Modi's elevation only from the economic point of view and not the political one.

Hailing Modi's model of development in Gujarat, Kamath said, "Clearly the Gujarat model is something that we can all be proud of."
