Jain, an engineer from IIT Kharagpur and a management graduate from the Indian School of Business, joined the investment firm in 2010. Prior to joining Blackstone, he worked at consultancy firm McKinsey & Co. Before that, he was worked at Hindustan Unilever limited (HUL) where he worked primarily in the manufacturing and supply chain area, setting up and operating manufacturing plants in HUL, the investment firm’s website says.

Jain is part of the private equity division of the global alternative investment firm and has been involved in some of the recent transactions of the firm in India such as Essel Propack, Aakash Education, Sona BLW, Comstar Automotive among others. Jain, an Economic Times 40 Under 40 winner in 2019 sits on the boards of most of the above mentioned companies including Fino Payments Bank.
Blackstone India has been actively investing in India through both traditional private equity and real estate private equity route. It has invested more than $10 billion in India so far. The firm is looking at deepening its India business and has in the past considered building a debt and special opportunities business here.
