Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.18%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Monday.
Shares of Tata Motors(up 5.4 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.48 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.41 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 1.28 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(up 1.06 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bosch(down 1.34 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 1.07 per cent), TIINDIA(down 0.84 per cent) and Bharat Forge(down 0.78 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.18 per cent up at 12616.75.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 24.9 points at 17624.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 13.54 points at 59846.51.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red.
Shares of Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Tata Motors, Vodafone Idea and ICICI Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Asian Hotels, GI Engineering, Aki India, Mold Tek Tech and MCON Rasayan India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vikas Proppant & Gr, Seya Industries, Goldstar Power, Ambica Agarbathies & Aroma Industries Ltd. and Mohota Industries hit their fresh 52-week lows.
