Trending stocks: NMDC shares down over 3% in early session

NEW DELHI: Shares of NMDC Ltd. traded 3.14 per cent down in Monday's trade at 11:09AM (IST). Around 82,147 shares changed hands on the counter.

The stock opened at Rs 88.9 and touched an intraday high and low of Rs 89.45 and Rs 84.4, respectively, in the session so far. Shares of the company of NMDC Ltd. quoted a 52-week high of Rs 139.5 and a 52-week low of Rs 62.0.

Total market cap of the NMDC Ltd. stood at Rs 26178.81 crore at the time of writing this report.


The company, which had to stop work at Bacheli mine in Chhattisgarh following the state government's intervention, has resumed mining activity at the iron ore complex, a senior company official said.


Key Financials
The company reported consolidated sales of Rs 3006.38 crore for the quarter ended 31-Dec-2019, up 34.11 per cent from previous quarter's Rs 2241.76 crore and up 17.62 per cent from the year-ago quarter's Rs 3649.44 crore.

The net profit for latest quarter stood at Rs 1394.4 crore, down 11.17 per cent from the same quarter a year ago.

Shareholding pattern
As of 31-Mar-2020, domestic institutional investors held 3.53 per cent stake in the firm, while foreign institutional investors held 6.03 per cent and the promoters 69.65 per cent.


Valuation ratio
According to BSE data, the stock traded at a price-to-earnings multiple of 5.56 and a price-to-book ratio of 1.0. A higher P/E ratio shows investors are willing to pay a higher price because of better future growth expectations. Price-to-book value indicates the inherent value of a company and is the measure of the price that investors are ready to pay even for no growth in the business.
