Trending stocks: Biocon shares trade flat in early session

NEW DELHI: Shares of Biocon Ltd. traded 0.04 per cent down in Monday's trade at 11:01AM (IST). Around 33,881 shares changed hands on the counter.

The stock opened at Rs 399.4 and touched an intraday high and low of Rs 399.8 and Rs 392.65, respectively, in the session so far. Shares of the company of Biocon Ltd. quoted a 52-week high of Rs 410.35 and a 52-week low of Rs 211.3.

Total market cap of the Biocon Ltd. stood at Rs 47406.0 crore at the time of writing this report.


Biotechnology major Biocon aims to list its biosimilar unit in the next two-three years depending upon market conditions, as per the company's Annual Report for 2019-20.


Key Financials
The company reported consolidated net sales of Rs 1581.0 crore for the quarter ended 31-Mar-2020, down 9.56 per cent from previous quarter's Rs 1748.1 crore and down 3.41 per cent from the year-ago quarter's Rs 1528.8 crore.

The net profit for latest quarter stood at Rs 123.4 crore, down 49.3 per cent from the same quarter a year ago.

Shareholding pattern
As of 31-Mar-2020, DIIs held 5.13 per cent stake in the firm, while foreign institutional investors held 14.98 per cent and the promoters 39.75 per cent.


Valuation ratio
According to BSE data, the stock traded at a price-to-earnings multiple of 63.36 and a price-to-book ratio of 6.42. A higher P/E ratio shows investors are willing to pay a higher price because of better future growth expectations. Price-to-book value indicates the inherent value of a company and is the measure of the price that investors are ready to pay even for no growth in the business.
