NEW DELHI: Shares of Coal India Ltd. traded 0.63 per cent up in Monday's trade at 10:48AM (IST). Around 141,463 shares changed hands on the counter.

The counter opened at Rs 136.5 and touched an intraday high and low of Rs 137.5 and Rs 135.35, respectively, in the session so far. The stock of Coal India Ltd. quoted a 52-week high of Rs 253.55 and a 52-week low of Rs 119.25.

State-owned Coal India suffered an average daily production hit of 56 per cent during the three-day strike by workers against the government's move to open the sector to private players, an official said. Meanwhile, CIL and NLC India will jointly develop solar power assets of 3,000 MW with a likely investment of around Rs 12,000 crore, sources said on Saturday.

The company reported consolidated sales of Rs 27568.23 crore for the quarter ended 31-Mar-2020, up 27.83 per cent from previous quarter's Rs 21566.41 crore and up 3.24 per cent from the year-ago quarter's Rs 26704.27 crore.

The net profit for latest quarter stood at Rs 4637.95 crore, down 23.01 per cent from the same quarter a year ago.

Shareholding pattern
As of 31-Mar-2020, domestic institutional investors held 9.41 per cent stake in the firm, while foreign institutional investors held 8.2 per cent and the promoters 66.13 per cent.


Valuation ratio
According to BSE data, the stock traded at a price-to-earnings multiple of 5.02 and a price-to-book ratio of 2.58. A higher P/E ratio shows investors are willing to pay a higher price because of better future growth expectations. Price-to-book value indicates the inherent value of a company and is the measure of the price that investors are ready to pay even for no growth in the business.
