The BSE Sensex ended Thursday's session 105 points up at 33,147, while Nifty50 closed 48 points up at 10,344.

NEW DELHI: Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty50 settled in the positive territory after scaling fresh record highs of 33,151.26 and 10,355.65, respectively, on Thursday.

The BSE Sensex ended Thursday's session 105 points up at 33,147, while Nifty50 closed 48 points up at 10,344.

Among the gainers in the Nifty50 index, oil and pharma stocks led. Shares of Bharat Petroleum Corporation zoomed over 5 per cent in the Nifty50 index. It was followed by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Indian Oil Corporation, Cipla, Hindalco, Aurobindo Pharma, Maruti Suzuki India, Axis Bank and UPL.

On the other hand, HCL Technologies, ICICI Bank, Indiabulls Housing Finance, State Bank of India, Ambuja Cements and Power Grid Corporation of India remained the top losers among the Nifty50 stocks.

Nifty Bank, Nifty IT and Nifty PSU Bank indices settled in the red on Thursday. Canara Bank, ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda, State Bak of India were the top loser bank stocks, while Punjab National Bank, with a gain of 8 per cent, remained at the top among bank stocks.

In the IT sector, HCL Technologies, MindTree, Tata Elxsi, Oracle Financial Services Software and Tata Consultancy Services closed in the red. Infibeam Incorporation, Tech Mahindra and Infosys settled in the green.

Nifty Metal index, with a gain of over 2 per cent, remained the top gainer among the sectoral indices on NSE. Shares of SAIL surged 15 per cent in the Nifty Metal index. APL Apollo Tubes and Hindustan Zinc were the two metal stocks that settled in the red in the Nifty Metal index.

As much as 81 stocks, including Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bharti Airtel, Birla Corporation, Canara Bank, Century Textiles & Industries, Delta Corp and GAIL (India) hit fresh 52-week highs on NSE on Thursday.

On the contrary, 17 stocks, including Arcotech, Diamond Power Infra, Dynamatic Technologies, Khaitan Electricals, Reliance Communications and Tara Jewels hit fresh 52-week lows on NSE.

Among the Nifty50 stocks, 33 settled in the green, while 17 closed in the red on Thursday.
