NEW DELHI: Backed by solid performances in bank, realty, IT, FMCG and auto stocks, domestic equities Nifty50 and Sensex hit a record high at 9,982.05 and 32,320.86, respectively on Monday.

Nifty50 ended the session at 9,966.40, up 0.52 per cent, while Sensex closed at 32,245.87, up 0.68 per cent.

Shares of Bharti Airtel (up 2.13 per cent), Wipro (up 1.92 per cent), Reliance Industries (up 1.91 per cent), HDFC Bank (up 1.88 per cent), Indiabulls Housing Finance (up 1.74 per cent) stood as top gainers on Nifty50.

However, Dr Reddys Labs (down 2.39 per cent), Vedanta (down 1.40 per cent), Axis Bank (down 1.11 per cent), Sun Pharma (down 0.89 per cent), Tata Steel (down 0.86 per cent) and IndusInd Bank (down 0.78 per cent) were among top losers.

Gujarat NRE Coke (up 20 per cent), Bombay Rayon Fashions (up 19.98 per cent), Parsvnath Developers (19.76 per cent) and Alok Industries (up 19.64 per cent) surged nearly 20 per cent on NSE, whereas stocks such as Visu International (down 50 per cent), KSS (down 33.33 per cent), Visesh Infotecnics (down 33.33 per cent) and Spacenet Enterprises (down 25 per cent) cracked up to 50 per cent.

Total 83 stocks hit their fresh 52-week high on NSE, while 22 hit their new 52-week low.

Shares of ITC (number of shares traded: 1.78 crore), Ashok Leyland (1.60 crore), ICICI Bank (1.56 crore) and Idea Cellular (1.52 crore) emerged as most active stocks in terms of volume.

Among the sectoral indices, Nifty PSU Bank index stood at the top with shares of Allahabad Bank (up 5.11 per cent) leading the pack. The index closed at 3,563.95, up 1.50 per cent.

Nifty Pharma index appeared as the biggest loser with shares of Divi's Laboratories (down 4.43 per cent) at the bottom in the chart. The index closed at 9,980.50, down 0.72 per cent.

IT and FMCG indices also hogged the limelight with shares of Tata Consultancy Services (up 2.04 per cent) and Godrej Consumer Products (up 3.30 per cent) as top gainers, respectively.

In the Nifty50 pack, 29 stocks ended the day in green, while 22 in red.

On BSE, 1,320 stocks settled in green whereas 1,382 stocks ended the session as laggards.
