Stock market update: Private bank shares advance; Yes Bank gains 5%

NEW DELHI: Shares of private banks were in the green in Wednesday's trading session.

Shares of Yes Bank (up 5.01 per cent), IDFC BANK (up 2.1 per cent), ICICI Bank (up 0.9 per cent), HDFC Bank (up 0.76 per cent), RBL Bank (up 0.75 per cent), IndusInd Bank (up 0.72 per cent), Axis Bank (up 0.45 per cent) and Federal Bank (up 0.39 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Private Bank index was trading 0.59 per cent up at 17,032.25 around 11:02 am.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 51.90 points at 12,031.55, while the BSE Sensex was up 170.62 points at 40,960.0.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 were trading in the green, while 17 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, Zee Entertainment, Tata Global, Bharti Airtel, SBI, REC, PNB and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
