Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls nearly 3%; SBI tanks 5%

NEW DELHI: Nifty Bank index was trading with losses at 12:12PM (IST) on Wednesday.

Shares of RBL Bank (down 4.89 per cent), State Bank of India (down 4.73 per cent), IDFC Bank (down 4.46 per cent), Federal Bank (down 4.41 per cent) and ICICI Bank (down 3.55 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 2.53 per cent down at 22168.6 around 12:12PM.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 125.30 points at 11192.05, while the BSE Sensex was down 411.42 points at 37953.93.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 9 were trading in the green, while 41 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, SBI and IDFC First Bank Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Infibeam Avenues Ltd., Ruchi Soya Inds and Hathway Cable hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Sumit Woods Ltd., CKP Leisure Ltd., Wealth First Portfolio Managers Ltd. and Mangalam Global Enterprise Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
