Market now: Stocks & sectors seeing brisk action

Benchmark indices erased morning losses and were trading in a thin range in Wednesday’s session. This was in line with weak trend in Asian markets.

The NSE benchmark Nifty index was trading 5.85 points down at 9,506.40 at 10.00 am (IST). The BSE Sensex was trading flat at 30,602.51.

That said, there dozens of stocks which hit their 52-week high during the trade.

The list includes Sobha, which hit its 52-week high of Rs 499.05 after the company reported increase in profits in the fourth quarter. Dhanlaxmi Bank hit a one-year high of Rs 44.70.

Shares of Vardhman Holdings, Indosolar, Vaibhav Global, Super Spinning, Sterlite Technologies, Caplin Point, OM Metal, Monsanto India, Kalyani Steels, Visaka Industries and Mirza International were among other companies which hit their fresh 52- week high in the morning trade on NSE.

DCM Shriram Cons, JSW Steel, Geo Financial Services, India Glycols, Sintex Industries, Bhushan Steel and JK Paper were among other companies who hit their one-year high.

However, stocks such as Shekhawati Poly-yarn, Shilpi Cable Technologies, Hindustan Dorr-Olive, GOL Offshore, Kaushalya Infrastructure, Flexituff International, FCS Software, Signet Industries touched their fresh 52-week low.

Overall, 20 shares were trading in green in the Nifty50 index, while 30 were trading in red.

In the Nifty 50 index, Tata Steel, Indiabulls Housing Finance, ICICI Bank, Aurobindo Pharma, Hindalco Industries, Bharti Airtel, Hero MotoCorp, Larsen & Toubro, M&M and ONGC were among top gainers.

Whereas, Tech Mahindra, Kotak Mahindra Bank, YES Bank, ITC, Ambuja Cements and Bosch were trading in red.

The BSE Sensex was up 22.50 points at 30605.10 at around the same time.

Traders were seen piling up position in gems and jewellery, leather, petroleum, electronics and power, and finance sectors, while selling were visible in packaging, rubber, textiles, auto, cement, pharmaceuticals and healthcare sectors.
