Share market update: Metal shares shine; Welspun Corp jumps 5%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading with gains in Wednesday's session.

Shares of Welspun Corp (up 5.0 per cent) , VEDL (up 2.94 per cent) , Hindalco Industries (up 2.41 per cent) , Steel Authority of India (up 2.25 per cent) , JSW Steel (up 1.8 per cent) , Ratnamani Metals & Tubes (up 1.74 per cent) , Hindustan Copper (up 1.73 per cent) , MOIL (up 1.17 per cent) , Jindal Steel & Power (up 1.12 per cent) , Tata Steel (up 0.99 per cent) , National Aluminium Company (up 0.97 per cent) , NMDC Ltd (up 0.76 per cent) , APL Apollo Tubes (up 0.53 per cent) and Hindustan Zinc (up 0.38 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 1.26 per cent up at 1980.65 around 01:53PM.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 148.00 points at 10127.1, while the BSE Sensex was up 491.29 points at 34316.82.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 39 were trading in the green, while 11 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, SBI, PNB, Adani Power, Tata Power, Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, IDFC First Bank Ltd. and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
