Share market update: Metal shares shine; Tata Steel gains 3%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading with gains in Wednesday's session.

Shares of APL Apollo Tubes (up 3.36 per cent) , Tata Steel (up 2.68 per cent) , Steel Authority of India (up 2.41 per cent) , Jindal Steel & Power (up 1.8 per cent) , Hindalco Industries (up 1.79 per cent) , Welspun Corp (up 1.49 per cent) , JSW Steel (up 0.53 per cent) , Hindustan Copper (up 0.2 per cent) and National Aluminium Company (up 0.18 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 0.49 per cent up at 1701.85 around 01:49PM.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 84.00 points at 8963.1, while the BSE Sensex was up 263.81 points at 30459.98.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Power, BHEL, SBI, Adani Power, Alok Industries, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and ITC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
